My Wife Beats Me…Should I Know Better?

My Wife Beats Me…Should I Know Better?

No matter how many times she comes crawling back and says she’ll never do it again…

It happens again and again!

Is it my fault?

I imagine that is the question most husbands like me ask themselves.

I know that I should feel embarrassed by this. I also know that many who read this may think I’m lesser of a man because of it. But my wife is a beast. When we hiked Half Dome and Mt. Whitney in California people were calling her a billy goat and mountain lion. At 5’5” you wouldn’t think that she could over take me but…

It all started last Friday. I usually don’t get this kind of time with my wife, but we decided to workout with our trainer at the same time. I started out great, but by the end she was taunting me. I know she would tell the story a little differently. I was ending my workout with 20 burpees and she was already done. She will tell the story that she was cheering me on, but all I heard was her taunting me like my older brothers used to do when I was kid.

Saturday was my chance to redeem myself. I got our nanny to take the kids for a couple hours so I could have another shot at the title. This time we did some Cross Fit workout for time. I went first and for 20 minutes all I could hear was her taunting me. I’m sure she would tell she was cheering me on. I held my own and now it was her turn. She crushed it! She again left me in the dust.

The only moral I can find in the experience is that we’re the average of our five closest friends. Too often we all settle with who we associate with, which I can maybe understand…MAYBE.

What I can’t understand is why in business we would ever settle. I push and push and push until I surround myself with the best. I spend entirely too much time on my business away from family to ever settle on anything but the absolute best. I’m always on the constant quest of improving myself, my family and my business. The only thing you can do to be great is find the best.

Be great!

Alabama Does This To Dominate Every Year

Success often boils down to our big goals and our actions everyday. Some days we have so much coming at us that we become a victim of our circumstance and as a result our big goals and dreams get thrown to way side. The best thing you can do is live your life in… 7 SECOND INCREMENTS When I was in college I coached football at Western Illinois University. We were ranked #2 in the country for 1AA. The biggest lesson I learned was from the head coach. Before every game he would say… “Today you’re going to play 70 plays. But, the game is only going to be decided by 3 or 4 of those plays. The problem is we don’t know which plays will be those game deciders. Whether you’re on offense, defense, punt, punt return, kick off or kick return you better be playing at your highest capacity.” Alabama’s football coach Nick Saben says something similar. Nick says… “Today you’re going to play 70 plays. Each of those plays lasts an average of 7 seconds. You’re only goal is to play full out for the 7 seconds that are in front of you at any moment.” Life throws a ton of things at us on a daily basis, but our success boils down to 7 second increments. What tasks can you plan out that you can focus on that will drive your success regardless of what else is going on around you?

Be great!

Is Above Average Good or Bad?

Is Above Average Good or Bad?

Typically when someone tells you that you are Above Average it’s a positive statement. However, this whole prospective changes when it pertains to a rating scale that measures a negative behavior or outcome… or for instance… What you pay in taxes?

One of the things I’ve always looked at is what you’re paying in taxes compared to what the IRS says you should pay in taxes.

I’ve always looked at my taxes and I know we’re in a graduated scale. It’s something like from zero to $15,000 we pay zero in taxes, and somewhere around $15,000 to $35,000 we pay 15% in taxes.

I always know what my effective tax rate is!

It was also a little bit hard when I used to be W2’d in the corporate world before I became self employed serving Entrepreneurs like me. Because of FICA and all those other things being subtracted from my paycheck it was almost impossible to figure out my effective tax bracket.

That is why I always ask… What is your effective tax bracket?

What you need to think about is what was your income last year? Was it down towards $231,000 or was it $1.5 Million plus?

Then, in your mind, I want you to put in what was the amount you paid in taxes.

Let’s just look and say you had a $520,000 income. What was your effective tax bracket?

Typically, what we find is that on $520,000 your effective tax bracket is around 27%.

What does the IRS say about this? The IRS actually publishes what your effective tax bracket should be given different income levels…

Income Reported IRS Average Effective Tax Rate

$231,000 14.1%

$339,000 16.0%

$520,000 17.6%

$1,558,5000 19.4%

The tax brackets show that somebody with $520,000 income should on average only pay 17.6%.

While working with multiple Business Owners we have found that the vast majority are paying 27% or more in taxes when the IRS clearly states that they should be paying just over a 17% effective rate in taxes.

My personal goal, every year, is to pay no more than the stated IRS average. I strongly suggest to make this a Goal of Yours Now & Moving Forward!

I’m very passionate about helping others achieve this goal as long as they are set up properly which will allow you to maintain compliance through following the tax code and documenting everything.

So, why is it that most are paying over the IRS Average?

It’s actually pretty simple… most lack a comprehensive plan that does more than record the past. They are missing a plan that looks forward proactively to create tax friendly positions when it comes to taking income now, in the future and at retirement. Sure, this type of planning takes more time and effort on my part, but the annual tax savings that you get to keep is off the chart.

Closing Thought… Check your effective tax rate and take steps to make sure you are at or below the IRS stated average!

If you’re above the average…

You must take MASSIVE ACTION or nothing is going to change 😉

Take Control or Be Controlled

Take Control or Be Controlled

We all know too well the wear and tear worry can do to us. So much to do, yet so little time to get it all done….which leads to worry…..

But the fact is, we too frequently worry about the wrong things. Yes, there are legitimate things we must be concerned about, but in reality it takes us away from those things that

really matter.

For instance…

I have met way too many entrepreneurs with various levels of experience and expertise that are expecting a high level of success, but they are focusing on the wrong things. They spend way too much time worrying about things they can’t change. As a result their profits flat line or in many cases are on the slow decline.

What I see happening is… they have outgrown their old systems and processes but they don’t see it or they refuse to change. It’s impossible to maximize a profit, build wealth and create security, when your books, systems and procedures are a disaster. You need to get your house in order and start focusing on the things that matter.

Things That Matter…

  • Review your business structure and organization to match your growth

  • Make a list of areas that need improvement

  • Share your plan with your Team (self accountability)

  • Execute It!

The more you direct your focus on those things that will have an impact now and for the foreseeable future the more success you’ll experience. It’s time to stop wasting valuable time and to start moving forward!

Why Worry by Uknown Author – 40% will never happen, for anxiety is the result of a tired mind, – 30% concerns old decisions which cannot be altered, – 12% centers in criticism, mostly untrue, made by people who feel inferior, – 10% is related to my health which worsens while I worry, and only… – 8% is “legitimate,” showing that life does have real problems which may be met head-on when I have eliminated senseless worries.

Do you choose to spend 92% of our time worrying about the things you shouldn’t? Or, will you spend time addressing the 8% that will have true impact?

Where your Focus Goes your Energy Flows!
