Your Reputation is Everything!

 

It takes a long time to build a strong reputation but it only takes a short instance to destroy it. There’s no substitute for a good reputation. It’s withut question an indispensable factor for sutainable success.

 

A recent study revealed the difference between top sales people and average ones was not talent, but reputation. People trusted the top sales people more. No one likes to do business with someone they don’t respect…

 

“Live in such a way that if anyone should speak badly of you, no one would believe it.”

 

The common mistake most people make is thinking that reputation is a matter of “image.” So they worry themselves with questions like, “how do I look?” or “did I say the right thing?”

To build a long-term good reputation, you must focus on your character, not your image.

Respect isn’t given as it must be earned through these six character qualities…

 

Integrity: Respected people tell the truth, regardless of the consequences.

Humility: Respected people don’t think less of themselves, they simply think of themselves less.

Dependability: When we say yes, or when we say no, people can count on us following through, regardless.

Having Priorities: We have goals, written down, shared with others, and work towards them consistently.

Generosity: We give to others without any expectation of anything in return.

Putting Others Ahead of Ourselves: We learn that selflessness is the way to building strong relationships.

 

So here are a couple of questions for you today, tomorrow and the next…..

I just got off the phone with a lawyer who was telling me it would be tough to close a business deal in 30 days.

 

Why?

 

He said…

 

Because people won’t react in real time.

 

I battle this everyday with people. I’m busy is the worst excuse in the world.

 

I hear…

 

I’m not running my business efficiently to be able to handle things in a timely fashion. I had a lawyer a couple years ago kill multiple deals because he was too busy.

 

TIME KILLS DEALS!

 

If you use the 80/20 rule to break down your time you’re wasting time on non-revenue generating tasks.

 

80% of your success is driven by 20% of your time.

64% of your success is driven by 4% of your time.

51% of your success is driven by 1% of your time.

 

Do you want 64% better results?

 

Double what you do in the 4% of your time that you’re most productive!

 

If you’re too busy to handle things you need an assistant. If an assistant doesn’t work you need to pay someone to duplicate yourself or be an apostle to your business.

I’m busy is really saying I don’t know how to run my business.

 

Here are a few things you can do right now to become more efficient…

1) Stop answering your phone

a. Nothing is that urgent that you need to pick up your phone everytime it rings.

b. Get an assistant or better yet a sales guy to answer your phone. I believe that anyone who calls is an opportunity for a sale and someone with sales skills should be the person answering the phone.

 

2) Stop checking your emails

a. Nothing is that urgent that you need to check your emails 100X times per day.

b. Give someone else access to your emails and give them the authority to respond on your behalf.

 

3) Write out a list…

#1 – Write out everything you do.

#2 – Make a list of everything you must do.

#3 – Make a list of everything you like to do.

#4 – Deligate the rest.

 

4) Do only goal achieving activities and get rid of all the pressure relieving activities. Don’t do any of the following unless they give you energy to keep pushing at achieving your goals.

a. Car Wash

b. Grocery shopping

c. Cleaning

d. Laundry

e. Cooking

f. The list of what you can pay others to do is endless

 

5) Do more energy creating activities

a. Workout

b. Meditate

c. Eat right. Stop eating crap that steals your energy.

d. Get around other people that give you energy.

 

Next time you’re going to tell someone your busy, remember they’re saying to themselves…

 

Man that person doesn’t know how to run their business or life.

What scripting and presenting methodology do you use?

 

We all are selling and presenting all the time and if you’re leaving your success to chance you’re failing!

 

If you’re anything like me, when I was a wholesaler, I was running 25 meetings a week. I would prepare, but it led me many times to treat every meeting the same. Now as an Accounting Firm / Advisor and Business Consulting Firm every pitch is worth tens of thousands of dollars or more!

 

Now to some degree I think if you have a few scripted meetings you’re on the right track.

But, how are you scripting your meetings?

 

This week I was preparing for a meeting with one of our partners who is my best friend this third grade and ex wholesalers. As we were preparing, my buddy said you’re using the “3 of Hearts”. The “3 of Hearts” is an old parlor card trick, but it works very well in sales. I put this together with a Harvard study on how you should present choices.

 

The Harvard study says when you have 3 choices it matters in which order you present them. The study outlines Lawn Mowers priced from low to high.

 

When you start from low to high in your presentation the middle priced option is your #1 seller and your #2 seller is the low priced option.

 

Conversely…

 

When you start from high to low in your presentation the middle priced option is still your #1 seller, but your #2 seller is the high priced option.

2 – Client was over paying in merchant fees and couldn’t get quick books to communicate properly.

 

We gave her 3 options…

 

1 – No merchant fees

2 – Lower her fees by 2!% with no change of processor.

3 – Lower her merchant fees from $80K to $40K

 

She was having trouble getting Quick Books on line to communicate and list her transactions properly. She had a full-time employee working on putting 154 transactions into two systems. We have our IT and CPA take look.

 

We not only saved her $40K on her merchant account, we also saved her the $40K in employee costs for lost efficiency.

Think about it for a minute, your philosophy (your thoughts) drive your attitudes… your attitudes drive your actions… your actions drive your results… your results drive your lifestyle.

 

If you don’t like your lifestyle, you must look at your results… if you don’t like your results… you must look at our actions… if you don’t like your actions… you must look at your attitudes… if you don’t like your attitudes… you must look at your philosophy (your thoughts).

 

Stay with me now…

 

If you are like me you have a philosophy of unrelenting service to others, and if we have a positive attitude, then we are on the right road to success. Successful people do what unsuccessful people don’t want to do…

  • Successful people live outside their comfort zone
